History of Lambda Nu Zeta Chapter

Lambda Nu Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was chartered on August 15, 1982, as a result of the coordination and encouragement of Soror Jacquelyn Hill.

As a result, Sorors Clemmie Bailey, JoAnn Britt, Jo Joyce Gamble, Jacquelyn Hill, Carolyn Howard, Louise Morris, Beverly Riley, and Alice West became the Founding Pearls of Lambda Nu Zeta Chapter.

The Chartering services were held at Wesley United Methodist Church, Summerville, S.C.  The services were officiated by Soror Virginia T. Hansberry, Regional Director, and Soror Macon Gardner, State Director.  (Soror Susie James, Rev. Samson D. Cooper, Pastor)

The first President was Soror Jacquelyn Hill.  Vice President Soror Jo Joyce Gamble, Secretary, Soror Beverly Riley, Assistant Secretary, Soror Louise Morris, Treasurer, Soror Carolyn Howard, Parliamentarian, Soror JoAnn Britt, Chaplain, Soror Clemmie Bailey, Public Relation Secretary, Soror Alice West.

Through the efforts and hard work of the above members, Lambda Nu Zeta’s first line was initiated in October 1984.
